You’ve read the words of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, which help inspire what I write here. I will quote from my father’s Post Scripts columns, many of which are compiled into an Amazon paperback and Kindle eBook. I’ll also occasionally quote from his book County Seat Weekly, which is also available in the above Amazon formats. I’ve also finished working on a third of my dad’s books, Para(graph) Trooper for MacArthur, about his experiences during World War II as a member of General MacArthur’s press staff. The latter two books eventually also will be available as audio books. While the blog at first was mostly about some of my father’s writing and my adventures growing up in Gallatin, Missouri (a wonderful small town in rural America), I’m branching out now. From my home in San Marcos, TX, I’m trying to live according to Justice Holmes’ admonition. Why does all of this matter? In the active years I have left (I’m 72), I want to follow those words that always appeared on my father’s editorial page. I know Dad tried to do the same, sometimes painfully. But all in all participating in the world, through the good times and bad, are what helps makes us effective citizens of this broad and wondrous planet. I hope you agree.
