I love Good Morning America….but

I watch Good Morning America every day from 7 to 9 a.m., and I love the mix of news and entertainment provided…but

Please don’t lessen the product

But I wish producers would avoid lessening the product with cheap and free advertisements. What advertisements, you say?

Featuring other ABC and Disney products

When GMA features Dancing With the Stars every week in season, it’s giving free airtime to another ABC show that people could easily watch on their own. We really don’t need to see it presented as new/entertainment the next day.

No longer recognize the stars

As for me, I no longer recognize the stars on this program, so I curl up with a book on Monday nights instead.

Then the Disneyworld 50th

Yes, Disney owns ABC. So GMA devotes a lot of attention to Disneyworld’s 50th anniversary. Nothing wrong with that. But in the context of fairness, other theme parks don’t get this attention.

Perhaps the topper

To me, perhaps the topper was Michael Strahan’s announcement today that he is going into space with Blue Origin. I don’t suppose ABC is paying for that trip. Instead, I assume Blue Origin has recognized a good chance for free publicity.

Great trip for Strahan

Yes, it will be a great trip for Strahan. And GMA viewers will see the step-by-step in preparations and the quick flight.

Media credibility

I am grateful George Stephanopoulas is still on the set to provide us with credible hard news. I will add that Amy Robach’s trip to the Antarctic was spectacular as was Ginger Zee’s reporting on location of the impact of global warming. I’m glad ABC invests the money to make those things possible.

I just think the freebies dampen what otherwise would be a great serious show.
